Viroj Wiwanitkit

Abstract

Hyponatraemia is an important complication of malaria. The rate of hyponatremia is different in different kinds of malarial infection with a significant problem in falciparum malaria.  The exact pathophysiology of hyponatraemia in malaria remains unclear. Here, the author proposes an idea on a parasitic sodium related biological process and further extrapolates for its relationship with rate and severity of hyponatremia in different kinds of malarial infection.
